TRUMPS CIVIL FRAUD CASE IN NEW YORK; ANOTHER RICO CASE MOVES FORWARD
Trump’s New York Civil Fraud Conviction -Why is the Trial Still Happening?
And, another RICO case looms for Trump family
Donald Trump has been convicted of fraud in his civil case in New York. So, why is the trial still going on?
First, remember when the Trump Organization was convicted on 17 counts of fraud in December of 2022, less than one year ago? That’s when a New York jury found the Trump Organization guilty of 17 counts of criminal tax fraud for a scheme that top executives used to dodge personal income taxes. Trump’s Chief Finance Officer, Allen Weisselberg, was sentenced to five months in Rikers Island prison for his part in the crimes, while also taking full responsibility (at the time) for Trump. Weisselberg went to prison on multiple charges, including dodging taxes on $1.7 million in job perks, and was released from prison last April. The Trump Organization was fined $1.6 million.
So that was the criminal trial of the Trump Organization, not Donald Trump.
As the current civil trial rolls into week three, Weisselberg took the stand as a witness against Donald Trump and his co-defendants for six other charges.
